So this Sunday is my birthday, my 33rd in fact, and I can't help but think about all the years that have gone by. I think that face book has been a huge influence on me going down memory lane.
So in 33 years, I have grown up?, gone to school, married, I have had 2 beautiful children, I have lived in 5 states, traveled, beaten cancer, I have lost my ever loving mind several times, met so many wonderful people, realized what really matters in life, started using facial cream to help keep wrinkles at bay, I am little by little knowing that botox and plastic surgery are going to be in my future, hair color IS a necessity though my husband says it's not, I am grateful to the makers of spanx, and push up bras, concealers for the dark circles under the eyes and the rest of the creators at Bobbi Brown for their wonderful make up products, drivers licenses and military id card pictures are just the product of the devil, (really does anyone have a great picture on theirs???), black clothing is my best friend, the prettier the shoe, the more they are going to kill your feet but hey they are worth it, I am deeply grateful for good lighting and photo shop, I think that everyone should be airbrushed at least once in their life, and last but not least, I am grateful to the fashion industry for doing away with mid-drift bearing clothing and bringing maternity styles to the forefront so we can all walk around looking like we are with child. (That's a joke.)
I used to wish that time would go by faster when I was a child. I remember thinking about when is summer break going to get here? How much longer to Christmas? The days when you were not just 7 but 7 and a 1/2 were so important. Now I want people to believe I am in my late 20's and please do not add that 1/2 to my age. As I get older, I realize that my parents were young and they DID remember what it was like to be young. The only reason I would want to be 17 again is to get back the energy and those youthful looks that I can't seem to find in my 30's.
They say that getting older has it's advantages such as we are more experienced and wiser. We are able to help those who are younger than us make better decisions than we did. Really??? Is that the best that we can come up with to comfort our sagging skin and these gray hairs that come out of no where??
Well here's to 33. May my facial cream do wonders and may my husband support my plastic surgery request!!!
