Super Powers and First Grade

For the longest time, OK, the last 3 to 4 years, Mitch has been enamored with Super Heroes. Every shooting star we see, every wishing well we pass, and every year when he blows out his birthday candles, Mitch wishes for super powers.

Last night, I watched the movie Iron Man. Good movie by the way, but I couldn't help but think about this "hero." So this morning over breakfast, Mitch and I were talking and I said to him, "Do you remember what Iron Man's super power was?" He thought about it and said, "well he really didn't have anything until he put on his iron man outfit." I said "Yes he did. How did he get his iron man outfit?" Then the light went off and Mitch replied, "He used his brain!!! Mom, I can use my brain and make super powers like Iron Man." EXACTLY!!!!

With this new A-HA moment, Mitch couldn't get to school fast enough this morning. I asked him if he was excited and he said, "I was born for this." So off he went with a kiss good bye, a new lunch box and a smile that went on for miles. I love that kid.
